Aza Squarer

Board Chair

Aza is a CPA by training, with experience in Mergers and Acquisitions with KPMG in Boston and Tel Aviv and Global Tax Strategy with SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (now GlaxoSmithKline) in London.

For over two decades, Aza served on multiple non-profit Jewish organizations' boards, such as the American Society of the University of Haifa, the Solomon Schechter Day School of Metropolitan Chicago, and Congregation Bonai Shalom in Boulder.

Aza currently serves on the Board of Jewish Colorado and the AIPAC Colorado Council. She is married to Ron, and they have two adult children.

Logan Pesses

Immediate Past Chair

Logan Pesses is a Vice President of Wealth Management at UBS Financial Services in Denver. Logan has served on the CU Boulder Hillel board since 2019, and as Board Chair from 2022-2025. Logan was raised in Cleveland, entrenched in the Jewish community there.

He attended CU Boulder from 2004-2007, earning a BA in Economics. Logan lives in Wheat Ridge with his wife Brittany, their kids Milo (5) and Tallulah (2), and their rescue dog, Zuma (13).

 
 

 
 

Lindsay Avner

Board Member

Lindsay Avner Kaplan is the Founder and former CEO of Bright Pink, a national nonprofit that transformed women's health by shifting the focus from cancer treatment to prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. After leading the organization for nearly two decades, she helped establish the Bright Pink PROACT Program at Stanford Medicine and Michigan Medicine.

Today, Lindsay serves as Senior Advisor to the PROACT Program and continues to advance preventive women's health initiatives. She has received numerous leadership honors, including Crain's Chicago Business' '40 Under 40,' and is the youngest recipient of the Anti-Defamation League's 'Rising Star' Award.

 
 

 
 

Andrew Conley

Student Representative Board Member

Andrew Conley is a senior at the University of Colorado Boulder pursuing a BS in Advertising Strategy with a minor in Sports Media. Originally from Vail, Colorado, Andrew has been actively involved with CU Boulder Hillel since his freshman year and currently serves as the Barbara Trager Intern and student representative on the Board of Directors. He has also participated in the Hillel Leadership Institute and served on the Fundraising Committee, helping strengthen Jewish life and community engagement on campus.

Growing up in Vail, Andrew developed a lifelong passion for ski racing and the outdoors, which continues to shape his interests and values. Professionally, he has experience in luxury hospitality and recently completed an internship with LIV Sotheby's International Realty in the Vail Valley, gaining experience in client relations, marketing, and luxury real estate. He is also an active member of the Advertising Club at CU Boulder and is passionate about storytelling, branding, and strategic communication, with career interests spanning sports, hospitality, and marketing.

 
 

 
 

Michelle Goldman

Board Member

Michelle Goldman is a CU Boulder alumna, earning both a B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences. During her time at CU, she was actively involved with CU Boulder Hillel, helping organize student programming and Shabbat dinners.

Michelle built a distinguished career in aerospace, working on NORAD space systems, spending nearly 11 years with Israel Aircraft Industries in Israel, and later leading complex space instrument programs at Ball Aerospace in Boulder before retiring in 2023. A dedicated member of the Jewish community, Michelle has held leadership roles with Bonai Shalom, including Board President, and has also served on the Boulder Jewish Day School Board.

 
 

 
 

Josh Greenberg

Board Member

Josh Greenberg is currently the President of Jorada Capital, a real estate investing and development company in Denver, Colorado. He is also a licensed attorney focusing on real estate transactions. He is honored to serve the community in varying capacities and serves on the boards of ADL and the Bender West Foundation.

Josh is a second generation alum of the University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate. He furthered his education with a Juris Doctorate degree from American University in Washington, DC. Josh enjoys spending time with his three kids and wife, especially at Folsom Field rooting on the Buffs!

 
 
 

Jason Howard

Melanie Kay

Board Member

Melanie Kay joined the University of Colorado Law School faculty in 2015. She teaches courses on legal ethics, professional responsibility, and ethical organizational and professional culture. She directs the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at Colorado Law, which helps law students develop strong ethical, professional identities through programming and hands-on opportunities.

Professor Kay co-directs Colorado Law's Master of Studies in Law in Ethics and Compliance program and serves as a Senior Fellow with the Silicon Flatirons Center. Before joining Colorado Law, she practiced environmental law with Earthjustice in Denver and general civil litigation at Latham & Watkins in San Francisco and Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell in Denver. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, her M.S. in Geology/Environmental Geochemistry from the University of Montana, and her A.B. in Earth Sciences from Dartmouth College.

 
 
 
 

Jason Oruch

Board Member

Jason currently serves as Senior Director of Development at JEWISHcolorado, where he has worked since relocating to Denver in 2019. In this role, he leverages data-driven strategies to guide the organization’s annual campaign planning and provide day-to-day leadership for the Development Team. During his tenure, Jason has led 10 digital fundraising campaigns that collectively raised more than $1.7 million. He also created and continues to lead Jewish Days of Giving, the only statewide Jewish giving event in North America.

Prior to joining JEWISHcolorado, Jason spent seven years as a Hillel professional, including serving as Hillel Director at the University of Hartford. In recognition of his leadership and impact, he received the 2016 Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award.

Jason joined the CU Boulder Hillel Board of Directors in August 2021. His commitment to Jewish communal leadership began as a student member of the KU Hillel Board of Directors at the University of Kansas, an experience that helped launch his career in the Jewish nonprofit sector.

 
 
 
 

Susan Rona

Board Member

Susan Rona serves on the CU Boulder Hillel Board and is the ADL Mountain States Regional Director, bringing extensive expertise in community engagement, nonprofit management, and strategic leadership. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, Susan previously led transformative work at the Boulder JCC, playing a crucial role in funding and developing their new campus, and provided strategic consulting to nonprofits through Susan Rona & Associates, LLC.

Her community involvement has included serving on the Jewish Life Committee at Rose Community Foundation and volunteering as a mediator with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Susan is passionate about CU Boulder Hillel's work because of the critical role it plays in supporting Jewish students on campus, particularly during this challenging time when they need community, resources, and strong advocacy more than ever.

 
 
 
 

Linda Shapiro Manning

Board Member

Linda brings a depth and breadth of knowledge from her professional experience spanning 30 years in clinical care, clinical research, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, and academia. She is a strong patient and student advocate and has previously served on non-profit boards, including training as an OnBoard Fellow.

Linda went to high school in Denver, where she was active in BBYO. She completed her undergraduate studies at USC, where she was active in Hillel, earned her MD at Tulane, and completed her PhD and post-doctoral fellowship at CU Boulder, where she was also on the research and teaching faculty. Linda lives with her husband Dave and their furbabies, and she enjoys the opportunity to support Hillel and engage in Tikkun Olam for future generations.
